Calmare® Pain Therapy Treatment (Calmare) is a U.S. FDA 510(k)-cleared and European CE mark-certified pain therapy medical device to treat pain without the use of drugs, a revolutionary, non-invasive, non-narcotic method for rapid treatment of severe, chronic, high-intensity neuropathic pain, failed back syndrome, low back pain, oncologic pain, lumbar radiculopathy and cervical radiculopathy pain resistant to opioids and for the treatment of nerve pain medications. This new and exciting FDA cleared pain therapy treats pain through a biophysical rather than a biochemical process. During treatments pain is completely eliminated, regardless of pain intensity. With subsequent treatments, the pain intensity diminishes and ultimately disappears in a high percentage of cases.

Calmare® has successfully treated over 4,000 patients worldwide, where it has been shown to be very effective in treating neuropathic and oncologic pain.Calmare (Scrambler Therapy) is FDA approved device for the treatment of Neuropathic pain including Neuropathies like Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and many other pain conditions including Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), Post Shingles pain, Diabetic Neuropathy and other pain conditions like Fibromyalgia, Myofascial pain, Low back pain, Sciatica, Neck pain, Cancer pain, Phantom limb syndrome and many other pain conditions with excellent results.

Calmare Therapy is solely provided by Dr Fahim Khan consultant Rheumatologist at the Rheumatology Clinic UPMC Aut Even Hospital, Freshford Road, Kilkenny, Ireland. who has many years of experience with Calmare Therapy in treating Pain conditions including nerve pain (Neuropathic pain) and nerve conditions ( Neuropathies) like Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) ,Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) with success rates of over 80% t0 90% in majority of patients treated under his care which is similar to 75-90 percent success rates shown in many world renowned Calmare therapy centres world wide. There are no known so

How does Calmare Therapy works:

Calmare® Pain Therapy Treatment uses a biophysical rather than a biochemical approach. A 'no-pain' message is transmitted to the nerve via disposable surface electrodes applied to the skin in the region of the patient's pain. The perception of pain is cancelled when the no-pain message replaces that of pain, by using the same pathway through the surface electrodes in a non-invasive way. Regardless of pain intensity, a patients's pain can be completely removed for immediate relief.

Maximum benefit is achieved through follow-up treatments. The patient may be able to go for extended periods of time between subsequent treatments while experiencing significant pain control and relief. The period of time between treatments depends on the underlying cause and severity of the pain in addition to other factors.During the Calmare therapy sessions apart from the small vibrations felt from the Calmare electrodes, there is no pain elicited during the treatment and there are no know side effects of Calmare Therapy. There is normally immediate pain relief during the Calmare therapy session.

Normally to treat pain conditions including neuropathies, 10 to 12 Calmare sessions are given , each session of 20-60 min in duration depending upon the underlying pain condition for example in Neuropathies like CRPS a total 10 to12 Calmare Therapy sessions are given each Calmare session of 30- 45 min in duration, 6 days a week and for Oncologic (Cancer) pain, each session can be of 60 min in duration with total 10-12 Calmare sessions. Some patients may require a few booster sessions after 3-to 4 months, If required.

Scrambler therapy: what's new after 15 years? The results from 219 patients treated for chronic pain

We also analyzed a subgroup of patients (n=118, 53.9%) suffering from neuropathic pain by dividing it into 3 categories like the previous subgroups. This subgroup of patients had a mean NRS score of 6.56 (±2.07) at T0, which reduced to 3.36 (±2.24) at T2 and 3.38 (±2.48) at T4 (P value<.0001). Absolute reduction from T0 to T2 was 3.2. As shown in  Figure4 and  Table5, there were 53 neuropathic patients with NRS ≥4, with a mean NRS score of 4.71 (±1.37) before treatment, which reduced to a mean NRS of 2.51 (±1.69) at T2 and 2.57 (±1.85) at T4 (P value<.0001) with an absolute reduction of 2.2. Patients with severe neuropatic pain (NRS ≥7) before treatment were 65, with a mean NRS score of 8.07 (±1.08) at T0. After ST, their mean NRS score fell to 4.05 (±2.4) at T2 and stabilized at 4.04 (±2.74) at T4. These results were always statistically significant with an absolute reduction of 4.02 from T0 to T2. After evaluating patients suffering from neuropathic pain at various time points, we observed that the number of patients with severe pain dropped from 50.5% at T0 to only 5.9% at T4. Conversely, the number of patients with mild pain raised from 16 (17.8%) at T0 to 68 (67.3%) at T4.
